The Conseil scolaire catholique des Grandes Rivières (CSCDGR) welcomes more than 5 500 students daily. Our 24 elementary schools, 8 high schools and 3 alternative education centres are located on a vast region over close to 25,000 km2 ,from Hearst to Temiskaming Shores, passing through Foleyet, Gogama and Timmins.
Who we are
Our name and logo
Created in 1998, our school board chose "Grandes Rivières", which means "Great Rivers", in honour of one of our great local treasures. M. Jos Matko, school board trustee at the time, submitted the name. It acts as a daily reminder of the beauty of nature around us, and that we must protect it.
Mrs. Carmel Arsenault, a teacher at École catholique St-Charles in Timmins, originally created the emblem of the CSCDGR. It was updated in 2010 by Chabo Communications and design, a Franco-Ontarian creative agency. The logo represents our great local treasures:
